Question: Is aluminum wiring safe?
Top Answer (69% of 13 votes): In some cases.

Answer: In some cases
Explanation: aluminum wiring has to have a paste applied to it to stop the wire form oxidizing along with devices rated for aluminum wiring. Personally I dislike aluminum wiring and will always consider copper instead. Aluminum wiring like triplex that utilities use is ok if properly terminated.

Answer: Always
Explanation: The only diff. is copper wire is heavier, and aluminum is lighter and silver grey. The other main difference between copper and aluminum wires is the resistance of the material. ... Copper not only has a higher conductivity than aluminum, but is more ductile, with relatively high tensile strength, and can be soldered.
